GRAVENHURST — Police and of OFM are investigating a pair of vacant old trailer park buildings that “suspiciously” burned this morning off Winhara Road.
Just after 6 a.m., Friday August 14, OPP along with Gravenhurst Fire Department, responded to reports of a structure fire on Winhara Road near Langford Drive in the north end Gravenhurst near the border with Bracebridge and near Hwy. 11.
Firefighters located the fire, back off the road on a lane, which had engulfed two buildings and were able to contain it.
Fortunately, they say, the structures were not occupied.
The fire is considered suspicious and Bracebridge OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office (OFM), with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are continuing the investigation.
A neighbour on the property said they knew nothing and said the building were empty and that no one lived in them.
Anyone with information, including video surveillance, or dash camera footage, is asked to call Bracebridge OPP at 1-800-310-1122 or you may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.crimestopperssdm.com if you wish to remain anonymous.
