SWIMMER HIT BY BOAT SATURDAY ON SKELETON LAKE, DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION

MUSKOKA LAKES TOWNSHIP — A 22-year-old Georgia man was airlifted to Toronto yesterday with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a boater on Skeleton Lake late in the afternoon.
And a Niagara Falls man, 39, was in bail court today charged Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm, Fail to Stop at an Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample.
Police are investigating collision, which occurred on Skeleton Lake in Muskoka Lakes Township, west of Bracebridge.
They say that on Saturday, July 19, just before 5 p.m. the OPP, Muskoka EMS and Muskoka Lakes Fire Department responded to several emergency calls from the public about the boating collision on Skeleton Lake, in Muskoka Lakes Township, near Skeleton Lake Road 5.
Callers reported that a boat had collided with a swimmer and people on shore had managed to bring the victim out of the water.
First responders were quickly on scene and the swimmer was rushed to a Muskoka hospital before being further transported by air to a Toronto area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police located the operator of the vessel arresting Richard Moore and further charging him with Failure to Comply with a Release Order.
Moore was held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
