LETTER: ‘NO BRAINER’ BUT TO SIMPLY EXPAND EXISTING SOUTH MUSKOKA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
LETTER to Editor:
Re: Lois Cooper’s health care survey column here.
Many thanks for the summary of the many short comings in the current local health care system.
It is utterly confusing to deal with easily unless you have a day or two to stay on your telephone before you pass away.
You also point out that choosing a site for a new hospital in Bracebridge is a major concern for those so high in the food chain that their only motivation is $’s.
I worked in the planning department in Sunnybrook Hospital in the 1990s.
At that time they built a new hospital building attached to the old brick building built in the 1940s.
The new multi-storey structure was attached to the old hospital building by simply building new walkways between the two at every floor.
There was very little disruption in the day-to-day activities in the old hospital.
Seems like a no-brainer to me, but appears to be quite a challenge here in Muskoka.
Keep up the excellent reporting. MuskokaTODAY.com is doing a tremendous job.
