TWO HOMES BURN ON MUSKOKA BEACH ROAD IN GRAVENHURST, AS RESIDENTS ESCAPE EARLY MORNING FIRE THURSDAY

GRAVENHURST — Residents of two homes on Muskoka Beach Road escaped fires early this morning after a pair of blazes tore through them.

At 5 a.m. Thursday, June 19, neighbours called 911 asking for police and fire services along the north road that leads to Taboo Resort.

The OPP, Gravenhurst Fire Department and Muskoka EMS responded.

They say all individuals are safely out of the buildings.

Muskoka Beach Road between Old Muskoka Road and Jones Road was first closed with the exception of school related traffic. And anyone wishing to access Muskoka Beach Road can access it via Jones Road.

GFD posted just after 8 a.m. that Muskoka Beach Road was still closed to vehicular traffic from Lofty Pines to Jones Road.

They also asked that all pedestrians try to avoid the area.

And “If you live in the area please keep your windows closed until smoke clears.”

The said all their stations were on scene.

Photos on their X account showed bright blazing flames as firefighters fought the flames.

Another social media post showed a huge black plume of smoke.
