MUSCLE CARS, MORE MAKE DRIVE TO GRAVENHURST WORTHWHILE FOR MOTOR HEADS

GRAVENHURST — While weather was more the topic of conversation, going for a ride on a grand day at Gull Lake Rotary Park Saturday still had motor heads revved up.

Quality if not quantity still made the drive worthwhile.

Beneath pine boughs and round bases it was a chrome field of dreams.

An automatic stop for a look back at when the price of today’s vehicles would have bought a family a house.

Imagine $5,217 for a ’58 big winged Caddy.

A leisurely walk through the park was a hike down memory lane for some who spotted their first car or the one that got away when dad said “sensible” and son said “sick” (cool back then).

Others just admired at what Canadian companies could craft, before Americans stole their concept cars and enacted tariffs.

Anyway it was chance to slow down, talk shop and share quality time on Father’s Day weekend.

They don’t make cars like this little beauty any more, nestled beneath shady pine boughs and drawing a lot of oohs and ahhs.
A couple of vintage antique automobiles almost 100 years old were the clear winners for many admirers young and old.
A walk down memory lane and an opportunity to snap more than selfies Saturday made the day perfect and an chance to talk about more than the perfect weather.
