MAN CHARGED WITH MALL THEFTS IN HUNTSVILLE SUSPECTED OF SIMILAR CRIMES AROUND TOWN

HUNTSVILLE A suspect charged in multiple thefts Saturday night may be the same person involved in other recent thefts and tagging across town.

Police said today that on March 15, at 7 p.m. they responded to reports of thefts at various businesses at 111 Howland Drive.

Police located the suspect and discovered various stolen items.

In addition, they found the man with a quantity of drugs.

During an investigation, officers uncovered details they say may point toward him  being responsible for several acts of vandalism in the community recently and spray painting of walls and signs.

Scott James Hampson, 29, of Huntsville, is charged with: Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING  x 2; and Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking.

Hampson is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Ontario on April 22, 2025.

The OPP are continuing with the investigation into the vandalism and ask that anyone with information on similar acts of vandalism contact the Huntsville OPP detachment at 705-789-5551.
