EIGHT DRIVERS FACE IMPAIRED OPERATION CHARGES SINCE MARCH 7

MUSKOKA — A half dozen motorists face individual charges after being stopped by police the past 10 days.

  • Friday March 7, just before 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of a collision that on Germania Road near Gilbert Lane.

The vehicle left the road and got stuck in a snow bank.

The uninjured driver, 34-year-old David Reisman, of Bracebridge, was charged with Operation while Impaired- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Reisman is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 1, 2025.

  • On Saturday March 8, at 8:40 p.m., police responded to a concern from a member of the public about a motorist driving on Highway 11 northbound in Gravenhurst.

The caller reported that the vehicle struck the concrete median and continued driving.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 North near Highway 118 and subsequently arrested and charged 32-year-old Joel Lizotte, of Penetang, with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Lizotte is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 15, 2025, to answer to his charges.

  • The following day, Sunday March 9, at 1:40 a.m., officers conducting proactive patrols in the town of Bracebridge stopped a vehicle on Wellington Street.

They arrested and charged 38-year-old Bradley Williams, of Severn, with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Williams is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 15, 2025.

  • Just before midnight, Monday March 9, officers in Gravenhurst were looking for a vehicle that had been reportedly driving erratically on Bay Street and located it in a parking lot near the Muskoka Wharf.

Police say that after an interaction with the driver, police have charged 35-year-old Gerald Tabachack, of Wikwemikong, with Operation while Impaired, Alcohol and Drug CC 320.14(1)(a).

Tabachack is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 22, 2025.

  • On Saturday March 15, at 10 p.m., officers conducting a RIDE program on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge observed a vehicle turn in a possible attempt to avoid travelling through the RIDE check.

Police conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested and charged 26-year-old Sean Despins, of Gravenhurst, with Operation while Impaired, Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Despins is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 8, 2025.

  • On Sunday March 16, at 8:30 p.m., police responded to concerns from a member of the public about a possibly impaired driver on Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst.

Officers located the vehicle on Pine Street in Bracebridge and subsequently arrested and charged 30-year-old Shannon Sutey, of Bracebridge, with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Sutey is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge April 8, 2025.

In the past 10 days eight drivers were charged with impaired operation across Muskoka.

HUNTSVILLE IMPAIRED CHARGES

Two other drivers were also charged in Huntsville the past week.

On Thursday, March 13, at 7:59 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 60 for a vehicle travelling in excess of 50km/h above the posted speed limit.

An investigation led the officer to suspecting the driver to had consumed alcohol.

He subsequently failed the roadside testing, requiring further breath testing at the OPP detachment.

As a result Joey Runtic, 36, of Brampton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Stunt driving, speeding
  • Drive motor vehicle – no validation
  • Novice driver – BAC above 0
  • Drive motor vehicle – no accompanying driver

His vehicle was impounded for 14 days of the stunt driving offence and he was served a 90 day administrative drivers license suspension.

Runtic is to appear in court April 15, 2025 at Ontario court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario.

The following day, March 14, at 2:14 a.m., officers were on patrol on King William St. when a vehicle was observed driving erratically.

A traffic stop was conducted and officers determined the driver to be intoxicated.

As a result, Amy Norris, 25, of Huntsville, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

She is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 15 , 2025.

Norris’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days and they received a 90 Administrative Driver’s license Suspension.
