GRAVENHURST — Freedom’s just another word for fleeting success a pair of Beaver Creek prison escapees discovered last night.
Their 32-hour overnight flight ended when the Muskoka Crime Unit — with the assistance of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad and Toronto Police Service — located the two inmates in a hotel shortly before 8 p.m. in the Greater Toronto Area.
Both were safely brought into police custody, said an OPP release Thursday night.
This after another walkaway was only out for a couple of hours. And following an altercation this month between two inmates, one of whom was charged with stabbing the other.

GRAVENHURST — Two minimum security prison inmates who walked away from the Beaver Creek Institute yesterday and jumped into a car at 1 p.m. are being sought by police.
The OPP say that last night, on February 19, at 7:15 p.m., police responded to a report that Michael Karas, 68, and Jay Sedore, 70, were unaccounted for during a scheduled head count at dinner and have not yet been located.
Video surveillance provided some information and police are looking for a grey sedan that picked the men up at 1 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing and police are working closely with Beaver Creek to find the inmates.
Members of the public are encouraged to be vigilante and report any suspicious activity to Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or if the situation is urgent, you may call 9-1-1.
A police report did not indicate if the inmates are a danger to the public.
