BRACEBRIDGE — Fame is fleeting.

Robin Clipsham knows that.

The popular local actress, producer, director and retired BML school teacher knows that having been on, off and behind the stage all her life.

So any one of her legion of Muskoka fans — and there are so many — watching Canada’s big take that 4 Nations Cup hockey victory over the U.S. may have caught a fleeting glimpse of her on the little screen this week.

At Thursday night’s Rotary gala opening of Into The Woods, I spotted her in the crowd looking all gorgeous and glamorous as always.

So was that you in the Hortons ad?

“It was me,” she sheepishly admitted with her huge laugh, adding “I’ve only seen it once.”

Robin Clipsham smiles and raises a glass, along with Bob Jacobs, at Thursday night’s Rotary gala in her old school. It may not be a Timmies, but she’s probably had her fill of coffee after her commercial shoot in which her many fans spotted her in a carefully selected sweater with her great trademark hair stood her out. It may have only been a Tim of a bit moment, but while those of us at the play watched a great show, others of you at home saw Connor McDavid win it for O Canada and toasted Clipshams all-Canadian cameo appearance.

“In the fall I was a little bit bored. And at loose ends. The Opera House has stopped producing. So I mean I’m still involved doing a lot of stage management for them. In terms of that I did a two shows this fall so I shouldn’t complain.

“But I just got a little bit bored and I thought I’m going to sign up with my agent in Toronto again, which I did.

“And I then I did what they call few self tapes and that one came along and I landed it.

“It was just silly.”

She said it was “only one day of shooting and a one day of wardrobe.

“It took them 15 sweaters to find that one.”

And with the TV inundated with Timmies ads like the 4 Nations Cup, it may be a little hard to spot her if you’re not a fan like most Muskokans.

But if you look hard and fast you can’t miss her with her big head of hair in the back corner of one passing shot.

She’s the one with the great sweater and great laugh — if only they had used that.

Because she’s our Canadian champion.
