GRAVENHURST — As Mother Nature’s unrelenting white cap continues here, Huntsville and Lake of Bays are getting the worst taste of south Muskoka’s winter with 30 cms falling up north.
Residents can call the Town of Huntsville at 705-789-1751 and press 2 or report a non-emergency concern online by visiting Huntsville.ca.
Due to that new storm their popular annual Porchlight fire department food drive tonight was rescheduled for next Wednesday Dec. 11.
Meanwhile, most Gravenhurst roads are open to single-lane traffic. And District of Muskoka roads are open to two-lane traffic.
They say snow removal work continues with assistance from contractors and Vaughan, York Region, and Simcoe County. Blower units from Vaughan and York are working to widen in-town roads for two-lane traffic.
- Packed snow removal work (ice blading) is taking place on in-town roads. The town’s fleet is focusing on widening rural routes and sanding.
- People on private roads requiring snow removal are asked to please see our list of contractors. If you are a contractor and wish to be added to the list, please contact us through the phone number or e-mail address below.

- The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit’s Gravenhurst office is now open and accepting well water samples for testing. See the SMDHU website for more details.

If medications are required, they will facilitate transport to hospital. GBVSR is also assisting with wellness checks over the phone.
- Since Saturday, the town has cleared more than 65 trees that have fallen across roads.
