EMPLOYEE ACCUSED OF STEALING $60,000 IN CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL

HUNTSVILLE It didn’t take police long to track down $60,000 in stolen construction material.

Officers were called Monday after a report of a theft from a local business in Huntsville.

On Sept. 30 they began an investigation.

A local business identified an employee they accuse of stealing the lumber.

Two days later, on Oct. 2, with assistance from the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) they recovered the stolen property in Haliburton.

As a result, Andy Clayton, 62, of Algonquin Highlands Township, was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Over $5,000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Fraud Over $5,000

Clayton was released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
