BIZARRE OVERNIGHT BREAK-IN AND THEFT FRIDAY IN DOWNTOWN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — A bizarre break and enter in the middle of the night today has police asking the public’s help.

Around 3 a.m. two suspects were caught on surveillance cameras entering the rear of a downtown business with a large bin in hand.

They appear to empty the contents of the bin on the ground — including gnomes — and continue their work, ultimately stealing several items, including flowers.

Police say they are investigating this unusual theft after being dispatched at 10:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, for a report of a theft of flowers and a garbage bin on Bay Street near Muskoka Road.

Officers have collected surveillance footage and are looking for two suspects.

Anyone with information, either identifying the suspects or the gnomes, is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or crimestopperssdm.com
