TWO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID SUNDAY IN FIRST NATIONS COMMUNITIES
MUSKOKA — Boat and motor vehicle charges were laid by police Sunday in two First Nations communities Sunday.
Police said Monday that on Sept. 22 just before 1 a.m., OPP along with Muskoka EMS, responded to a crash of a vehicle on Kanien’kehá:ka Iohatátie (formerly Muskoka Road 38) on Wahta Mohawk First Nation.
They have charged 31-year-old Jennifer Hill, of Gravenhurst, with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).
Hill is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Oct. 5, 2024 to answer to her charges.
Later that night, at 7:30 p.m., police responded to concerns from members of the public about a male suspected of being impaired, and operating a motorized vessel in Isaac Bay on Moose Deer Point First Nation.
Officers investigated the concern, arresting and charging 29-year-old Mathew William of Moose Deer Point First Nation with Refusal to Comply with Demand (breath) CC 320.15(1) and Operation While Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a).
Williams is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Oct. 10, 2024.
