PORT CARLING MAN AMONG PAIR FACING MORE THAN TWO DOZEN DRUG, FIREARM CHARGES EARLY SATURDAY AFTER POLICE STOP

MUSKOKA LAKES TWP. — A Port Carling man and a Barrie woman were in bail court today charged with more than two dozen counts after a police stop near Acton Island Road just after midnight early Saturday morning.

Most of the charges were firearms and drug related as well as Highway Traffic Act.

Police say today that on Sept. 14, at 12:10 a.m., an OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement on Muskoka Road 169 near Acton Island Road in Muskoka Lakes Township and encountered a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed prompting a traffic stop.

One occupant of the vehicle said they required medical care and Muskoka EMS attended to assist and transported them to hospital for an unrelated and non-life-threatening condition.

Officers continued their investigation and subsequently arrested and charged 34-year-old the driver Clayton Eisan, of Port Carling, with the following:

  1. Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  2. Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) CDSA5(2)
  3. Obstruct Peace Officer CC129(a)
  4. Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice CC403(1)(d)
  5. Breach of Recognizance CC811
  6. Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 CC354(1)(a)
  7. Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose CC88
  8. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC91(1)
  9. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm CC92(1)
  10. Carrying a Concealed Weapon CC90
  11. Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm CC94
  12. Transport Firearm in a Careless Manner CC86(1)
  13. Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order CC117.01(1)
  14. Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) CDSA5(2)
  15. Along with several Highway Traffic Act Offences

Eisan was held in custody and was to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sept. 20, to answer to his charges.

Police also charged the occupant, 43-year-old Charity Thompson, of Barrie, with the following:

  1. Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) CDSA5(2)
  2. Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose CC88
  3. Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC91(1)
  4. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm CC92(1)
  5. Carrying a Concealed Weapon CC90
  6. Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm CC94
  7. Transport Firearm in a Careless Manner CC86(1)
  8. Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order CC117.01(1)

Thompson was also held in custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sept. 20 to answer her charges.
