BEARS RETURN TO SCHOOL FOR SECOND DAY IN ROW, FORCING ANOTHER HOLD, SECURE AT SPRUCE GLEN PUBLIC

HUNTSVILLE The students made it home safely yesterday afternoon — but the “bears” remained out of hibernation.

And they were back in the schoolyard here at Spruce Glen Public School this morning.

A hold and secure was put in place again Tuesday — a second day in a row — shortly after classes resumed.

It was lifted again after lunch and families received more communication from the school and from Trillium Lakelands District School Board after a repeat of the same incident yesterday.

The school, north off Hwy. 60 east of downtown, was placed under a hold and secure once more due to bears in the schoolyard, the board said just before 11 a.m.

All students and staff are safe, and the OPP were called back as a precaution.
In a hold and secure exterior doors are locked and classroom routines and lessons continue. Students are not permitted outside and cannot be signed out while a hold and secure is in place. Parents/guardians are not able to pick up their students during a hold and secure.
If you have an urgent concern about your child, please contact the school directly.
