MUSKOKA — An annual spike in summer ER visits at MAHC will have patients seeing five new emergency doctors in south Muskoka and Huntsville.

They are among a staggering 134 new hospitals hires since the beginning of the year.

In a release today, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) says it has hired five physicians who have recently joined their emergency departments in Bracebridge and Huntsville.

The hospital staff team has also seen tremendous growth with 134 new hires between January and June 2024, said Thursday.

The new hires are Dr. Ryan McAnuff, Dr. Patricia Marx, Dr. Louis Nel, Dr. Matthew Prisk and Dr. Devon Tilbrook.

“Our emergency departments are often the first stop for our communities, so the Emergency physician sees the full gamut – everything from traumas to heart attacks and strokes to broken bones and fishhooks,” says Dr. John Simpson, director and chief of emergency medicine at MAHC.

“We know Muskoka is a great place to work and live and we’re pleased to add these exceptional practitioners to our amazing team.”

Annually, MAHC’s emergency departments see more than 40,000 visits.

MAHC’s new emergency room physicians are, left, Dr. Ryan McAnuff, Dr. Patricia Marx, Dr. Louis Nel, Dr. Matthew Prisk and Dr. Devon Tilbrook. They are working at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
