UNITED CHURCH CONCERT SERIES FEATURES BRITISH-BASED BOOGIE-WOOGIE PIANST KYLAN HAFFIE WEDNESDAY

GRAVENHURST — After an “excellent” start last week, Trinity United Church continues it short noon concert series on Wednesday.

Kate Ward provided a superb “tasting menu” of organ music, said church member and organizer Diane Harrop.

“It was excellent and a great introduction to our three-concert series,” she said in release.

This week, TUC welcomes Kylan Haffie, who is visiting from London, England.

Haffie will entertain on the piano with some old classics and new tunes. He is a jazz and boogie-woogie specialist, but can play many styles.

After several years of piano lessons, he branched out to learn how to play by ear and reproduce some of his favourites in his own style.

One of his past times is to entertain people in train stations on the commute home from work. The pianos tend to be rather unpredictable so Kylan is very happy to be playing on a fine instrument Wednesday.

At some point he may even burst into song himself.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Admission is by donation.
