TOM BRADY WAS FODDER FOR LOCAL COMIC NOW AT TULO’S COTTAGE COMEDY CLUB IN PORT CARLING

PORT CARLING — Funny how life throw’s you a pass and you either run with it or get sacked.
Muskoka comedian Tyler Morrison, who is performing Tuesday nights all this summer at Tulo’s by the locks, gives as good he gets when it comes to joking around.
The Bracebridge-based funny man has created his own comedy brand, Cottage Comedy, which produces live shows, festivals, comedy albums/specials, and now Cottage Comedy Club.
Performances began June 30.
He says he’s been making a name for himself across North America, not only for his brand of working-class comedy, but for becoming known as one of Canada’s best roast comics. He’s dominated on Roast Battle Canada where he was nominated for a 2024 Canadian Screen Award, was featured on Andrew Schulz’s The Life Tour, the Roast of Ric Flair and Doug Stanhope’s Second Wind Tour.
But it’s as a writer for the Netflix special The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady that Morrison was part of one of the most talked about gigs of his career.
Brady took offence in early May when comedian Jeff Ross took a shot at Brady’s former Patriots boss Robert Kraft who signed the future NFL Hall of Fame QB.
“On the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked in to owner Robert Kraft’s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’”
Kraft was arrested in 2019 in Florida and accused of soliciting from a prostitute, which he denied and the charges were dropped in 2020.
Brady had words with Ross, who reportedly cowered under pressure from the Saintly future NFL Hall of Famer.
The “retired” Brady is working on a deal to acquire a limited ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raider.
“Cottage Comedy Club is an awesome little space for comedy right on the water where I will be running a series of exclusive shows with special guests and showcasing my new stand-up before I take it on tour across North America,” said Morrison in a release.
“It’s pretty awesome and because of its amazing location right by the Port Carling locks people can access it by boat as well.”
“Roasting has always been a fun part of the comedic experience, playing around with the crowd in stand up is a great way to bring the room together. I’ve been fortunate enough to get the opportunity to really thrive with the roast format and gain some notoriety from that. So I do my best to bring that style to my live shows – I want them to feel like anything could happen tonight,” he said.
With all the sports celebrities in Muskoka every summer (no sign of the Stanley Cup here so far), Morrison could take a shot at the Leafs (Look out cottager Mitch Marner), Raptors or Blue Jays. They’re all good sports who can take a joke when off their fields of play. They have to have a sense of humour with their bosses raking in riches for their owners.
Cottage Comedy Club will run weekly throughout July and August, with Morrison dosing out his comedic genius, along with surprise appearances by headlining comedians and rising talent.
