‘FIRESIDE CHATS’ WITH DOCTORS CHANCE TO MEET THEM AND HEAR PHYSICIANS ON HEALTH TOPICS

MUSKOKA — Meet the doctors.

With a shortage of district doctors, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has produced a series of Fireside Chats that introduces some of them with talks that explain more about health in general and hopefully help patients learn a bit more about their providers.

In partnership with local healthcare providers, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has released the spring 2024 Fireside Chat Series by the Huntsville and South Muskoka Physicians Local Education Groups.

Dr. Kirsten Jewel, an ER doctor at MAHC, attempted to explain how to navigate Muskoka’s health care system.

In April and May, eight fireside chats were held free of charge in community centres in Huntsville and Bracebridge for community members to learn more about issues that can affect overall health and meet their local healthcare providers.

The spring 2024 video series is available on the MAHC You Tube channel as follows:

“The Nuts & Bolts of Osteoarthritis” How to Keep Things Moving, and What You Can Do When Things Don’t Move As Well As They Used To, presented by Dr. Rich Trenholm on April 2, 2024.

“Confused about End-of-Life Decisions?” Questions about Advanced care Planning? Dignified Death? And what’s this about Advanced Directives for Assisted Dying?, presented by Dr. Pam McDermott on April 9, 2024.
