EVERY NEW BARGE SEAT TAKEN — EVEN IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN LAWN CHAIR

GRAVENHURST — Rotary continues to rock the Barge.

Their new amphitheatre seating has increased crowd numbers allowing more people to see and hear the summer shows.

Sunday — on a second straight perfect night of weather — the sounds of the Doobie Brothers filled Gull Lake Rotary Park.

And every new seat on the banks was taken — north and south.

Most people are bringing their lawn chairs rather than sitting on the granite rocks. But you can do both.

But Rotary’s 85th anniversary project is proving a big winner with some weeknight concerts coming up.

Including this Thursday:

  • Tall Pines Presents Bigfoot’s Hand & Shoemaker Levee Thursday, July 18 Check out the Tall Pines Festival site with this special double-header.
  • Baytowne Big Band Tuesday, Jul 23 Big Band/Swing from the 30s to today!
  • VanHillert Tuesday, Jul 30 Covering hits from the 50s & 60s
  • Swingin’ Blackjacks Thursday, Aug 22 Hi-octane rockabilly and roadhouse blues
  • Shout! The British Invasion Sunday, Sept. 1. Celebrating 60 years of England’s greatest music
On the banks, above or on the beach below, a swell crowd swelled the park.

Front to back the Doobie Brothers rocked the Barge along with Rotary. With more shows to come this summer. And the crowd loved every minute of it.
