LETTER: ‘PLEASE DON’T TRUCK US NORTH, AWAY FROM OUR MEDICAL EXPERTS’

Letter to the editor:

We attended the meeting at the Bracebridge Legion Tuesday morning.

I didn’t speak. However, if I did, my point is this:

The plan to truck patients from Bracebridge to Huntsville is not practical.

When we get out to Hwy. 11 our vehicles turn south only.

If we are needing medical attention we would much prefer to drive south to Barrie and/or Toronto for real medical expertise.

Please don’t truck us north, away from our medical experts.

We wish you strength and luck in this battle, which is raging.

And sincerely hope for a favourable outcome.

We need a hospital in south Muskoka that includes Gravenhurst.

And for the huge influx of seasonal residents on all the Muskoka Lakes.

Having volunteered at our hospital for more than 25 years, I know how much we need a full-service hospital with a minimum of 75+ beds.

Thelma and Jim Marrin, Bracebridge

Thelma and Jim Marrin, sitting back centre, she in the red sweater, don’t want to have to drive to Huntsville for extended hospital care. They say their care points south when it gets on Hwy. 11.
