ELDERBERRIES CHOIR RETURNS FOR SUMMER SERIES JUNE 1 & 2 IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST —
What started out 32 years ago as a simple celebration of music by an eager group of seniors has emerged into one of the most anticipated concert series of the season.
In 1992 the Elderberries Choir assembled in the Senior Centre here under the formation of founder and chair Mike Lipiski.
Under the direction of Gravenhurst Public School’s music and Grade 8 teacher, Janice Tefler, the choir had a mixture of beginning singers — and avid musicians able to read complicated music leading the way for quick advancement. The choir was accompanied by pianist, Judith Hemming.
Today they are blessed to be under the direction of the very talented director Louise Jardine and accompanied by pianist Carolyn Grant.

With 51 singers from across Muskoka, they will be singing some of the most challenging pieces of any local choir. (Wait till you hear the cricket song).
It is a concert you shouldn’t miss, featuring some of the area’s best choralists.
The theme is ‘SUMMER DAYS SUMMER NIGHTS,’ a stirring compilation of songs that will have you tapping your feet and hopefully singing along.
The Elderberries Choir series starts Saturday June 1, at the Gravenhurst Legion at 7 p.m.
It ends Sunday, June 2 back at the legion at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and you can reserve them by calling Cathy at 705-774-8577.
The doors and bar open 45 minutes prior to each show.
Please join us for a memorable musical event.
