GRAVENHURST — By land, by water — and now by air Rotary’s Rock the Barge amphitheatre project looks stunning.

Rotarian Dave Reid manoeuvred his drone camera above the construction site at Gull Lake Rotary Park this week for seagull’s eye view of the seating work nearing completion.

Reid, chair of the service club’s 87th anniversary, got some stunning behind the scene shots and video below that shows the massive scope of the huge sloping shoreline project that is being done in cooperation with the Town of Gravenhurst that re-enforced the waterfront.

End-to-end there will be almost 60 metres of granite outcrop — including two existing stairways and the new 20-metre and 30-metre additions.

The Gravenhurst Rotary Club is planning a Saturday June 20 opening with entertainment and cake.

It’s just one of Rotary’s many contributions giving back to the community.

Placement of five rows of rock along the main 21-metre section is now complete.
Works continues on the slope in front of the swimming beach, which is 30 metres long.
Together, including two stairways to the waterfront, about 60 metres of granite will cover the Gull Lake Waterfront for concerts events.
This is what it’s all about, sitting and watching Music on the Barge, on the most unique band stand in Canada.
