MUSKOKA — A new dedicated MAHC website puts its case to the public for two distinctly different hospitals and includes its latest spring offering.

The site created by Algonquin Digital, which operated the IT portion of their recent community meetings, provides all of the information shown on screens in those often challenged engagements.

They included graphs with past, present and future patient numbers in north and south Muskoka, along with announcements, updates and press releases.

For those who have followed this story it’s the health history as written by MAHC.

Much of it information many in the heated throes of the debate may have quickly overlooked.

The site offers many of the slides presented at public meetings this winter across Muskoka, some of them that may have been overlooked or look new.

It offers pros and cons for both sides work with, including information on patient transfers between South Muskoka Memorial Hospital and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.

But it is by no means comprehensive like not including financial details opponents in the Save South Muskoka Hospital have been calling.

SSMH says it has been frustrated and thwarted by MAHC in its search for those dollar numbers after it sought them through a Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. SSMH says MAHC asked them to pay more than $30,000 to respond citing the cost of research time and photocopying.

MAHC says Friday in announcing the “micro site” if has frequently asked questions (FAQs).

“This initiative underscores MAHC’s commitment to transparency, community engagement, and the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare services. A comprehensive resource hub, providing stakeholders and the public with detailed information about the historical background, meticulous planning process, stringent safety and quality care considerations, and future direction of the capital redevelopment project. Additionally, it will host over 40 FAQs addressing common queries and concerns raised by the community.”

“At MAHC, we prioritize and value open communication and collaboration with our stakeholders,” said Cheryl Harrison, Chief Executive Officer at MAHC. “The launch of this micro site and the sharing of our FAQs represent significant milestones in our ongoing efforts to engage with the community and ensure transparency throughout the capital redevelopment process. …”

“We are committed to fostering meaningful dialogue and incorporating community input into our planning efforts…,” added Harrison. “We aim to address concerns, provide clarity, and empower our community to be partners in the future of healthcare delivery in Muskoka.”
