FUEL TRUCK FIRE ON HWY. 11 EARLY TODAY CLOSES HIGHWAY AT HIGH FALLS

BRACEBRIDGE — Overnight traffic delays on Hwys. 11 and 117 early today were caused by a fuel truck fire in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 11.

Police and firefighters responded at 1:30 a.m.

There were no injuries.

Hwy. 11 between High Falls Road and Highway 117 was closed for several hours.

An environmental spill response contractor attended the scene on behalf of the tanker company to safely manage the offloading of remaining onboard fuel and provide mitigating measures to protect the environment.

The Ministry of the Environment also attended and found no hazards.

Traffic was re-routed onto the southbound lanes after 1:30 a.m. following the northbound fire.
