DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AFTER REAR-ENDING VEHICLE AT POLICE SEATBELT CHECK
HUNTSVILLE — A man accused of having open liquor and cannabis “readily available” while driving has been charged with impaired operation of his vehicle after he rear-ended another driver at a police road check last week.
Police arrested and charged Ian Watson, 34, of Bracebridge at a Seatbelt Enforcement check on the Easter Long Weekend.
On Sunday March 31, 2024, at4:55p.m., his vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on at Highway 60 and Highway 11 Southbound.
Officers were in the area ensuring occupants of vehicles were properly wearing their seatbelts when the collision occurred.
As a result, Watson was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – BAC (80 plus)
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Drive vehicle with liquor readily available
- Drive vehicle with open container of liquor
Watson is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 21, 2024.
