O’ CANADA! COLD LAKE, SUNNY SHINNY — NOW THAT’S OUR KIND OF HOCKEY

Mark Clairmont | MuskokaTODAY.com

GRAVENHURST — A biting wind was no match for the sun and shinny on Lake Muskoka this weekend for another annual hockey fest.

This year’s winter lite didn’t stop hundreds of slap-happy puck purists who gathered under the sun for a glorious game of what makes us Canadian.

The battle for the North America Cup drew dozens of teams desperate to hoist the wooden trophy, emblematic of Muskoka longest-tenured tournament.

The two-day event ends with the finals early afternoon at the Muskoka Wharf.

It was cold, sunny and fun – just like Canadian pond hockey should be.
Winter lite came up cold this weekend for the annual North America Cup shinny tournament at the Muskoka Wharf with dozens of teams vying for bragging rights.
Bundled up in their Muskoka tuxedos teams enjoyed great ice conditions this year.
Lake Muskkoa is always a popular destination for players outside Boston Pizza.
Now that’s hockey! You can take it from “The Captain,” who knows the game better than most and who also serves a great sausage at Gull Lake Rotary Park in the summer.
