OVERDUE RAMARA BOATER, 74, FOUND TUESDAY TO HAVE DROWN IN GREEN RIVER

WASHAGO — A search yesterday for a boater who was overdue has ended tragically.

Police divers located the unidentified man in the Green River near Washago.

On October 31, at about 4:30 p.m., OPP from Orillia were dispatched to the Green River after a vessel was found abandoned.

Officers, along with residents, Ramara Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedic Services conducted an extensive search and located the occupant who was pronounced dead.

He has been identified as a 74-year-old male from Ramara. However police say his name will not be released.

The OPP would like to thank all local residents who assisted at the scene.

Police say an abandoned boat was found on the Green River near Washago Tuesday afternoon. Following a search by emergency services and members of the public, the man’s body was found.
