LIONS LOAD UP ON THANKSGIVING FOOD BANK DONATIONS FOR SALLY ANN IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — A lot of local families will be enjoying a happier Thanksgiving this weekend thanks to the Lions Club, Salvation Army and hundreds of food bank donors.

The two charitable organizations teamed up Thursday, Friday and Saturday to collect and distribute holiday dinner items as food prices continue to soar.

Thanks in part to the generosity of Sobeys Gravenhurst store manager Jesse Grimes the Lions had a delivery truck parked out front today to collect pre-packaged bags for delivery right to the Sally Ann at the other end of town.

For four hours they filled up and took cash donations as the sun shone on their endeavour.

Donations are still being accepted at any Salvation Army or food bank to help those in extra need in October and heading into the Christmas season.

Lois Cooper was among hundreds who donated bags of food and cash at Sobey’s today to grateful Gravenhurst Lions Club members.
Jasmin was another supporter who pitched in with pre-packaged items from Sobeys.
Lions Ron Chiasson and Daniel Soucey not only brought their truck to load up, but they also made sure fellow service club members had enough java to keep the drive alive. Or was that pumpkin lattes?
