KRIS CLEMENT MEMORIAL TOURNEY FACES OFF FOR 3 DAYS IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — Hockey is weeks into its regular season and a half-dozen young teams here are already in extra-curricular mode.

The 13th annual Kris Clement memoral U13 tournament this weekend pits the South Muskoka Bears against visiting players from Wingham, Port Colborne, St. Thomas, Kawartha, and Petrolia.

Clement’s mother, Kim, dropped the puck this morning to start the weekend of play with the Bears’ mascot keep watch.

The host team welcomed Wingham in the first  of three days of friendlies Friday with the visitors scoring a pair of late goals to win.

The Bears play again tonight against St. Thomas at 7 p.m.; Saturday at 10:20 a.m. facing off with Kawartha and Sunday at 1 p.m. vs. Petrolia.

Teams with the most points square off about 4 p.m. the final day.

Kawartha won the tourney with a 2-1 victory over Port Colborne Sunday afternoon.

South Muskoka and Wingham were the first to face off Friday in the Kris Clement U13 memorial tournament in Gravenhurst, with goalie Brody Hinton and defenceman Bobby Gauthier holding off an attack.
