SINGHS OPEN INDIAN RESTAURANT IN GRAVENHURST OFFERING TANDOORI, BIRYANI, SHORBA

GRAVENHURST — From the Butcher’s Daughters to a mother and daughter.

That’s the essence of the Essence of Spice, a new restaurant and takeaway on the main street here.

Akansha Singh and her mom, Poonam, have opened across from the Opera House where for the last three years Kim Barnes ran her deli, after moving from Huntsville and moving back.

Now the Singhs family, who had a restaurant in Ajax, is offering Gravenhurst a taste of India with sitdown dining in back and a café in front offering plenty of tandoori, biryani, shorba and lots more.

They opened Sept. 30 and Akansha Singh says she and her mom have had a good month of October and are looking forward to November and December and 2023.

They just put up a new sign this week and are located two doors down from the Currie Brothers music store.

Akansha Singh and her mom, Poonam, are the latest addition to the culinary cuisine with their Essence of Spice restaurant and takeaway in Gravenhurst.
