MUSKOKA — Local police were stretched on Muskoka roads for today’s snowstorm as many were seconded for this morning’s funeral for slain constables Devon Northrup, left, and Morgan Russell.

OPP officers from Muskoka marched and helped cover for the South Simcoe Police Service area in Innisfil and in Barrie where hundreds of their brethren marched to the Sadlon Arena for the 11 a.m. service.

Roads reopened at 4:30 p.m.

The police show of solidarity left local resources there to a minimum as many of the officers’ friends and colleagues paraded and attended the private service.

And thousands more members of the public lined city streets to pay their respects.
