ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE LAID AGAINST SECOND MAN IN SEPT. 19 SHOOTING IN ALLENSVILLE
HUNTSVILLE — A gun call here last month on South Lancelot Road, which led to a man being charged, has resulted in a second person being arrested and charged in the “dispute” yesterday.
And a charge of attempted murder against a Hamilton man who was in bail court this morning.
Police say that on Sept. 19 at 2:20 p.m. officers responded to reports of a dispute occurring between two individuals in which a gun shot was reportedly heard.
The incident happened at a property on South Lancelot Road, in the town of Huntsville.
It was near Lancelot Lake in Allensville south of the downtown and west of Hwy. 11.
Tuesday Oct. 4 the OPP charged Patrick Ireland, 53, of Hamilton. He faces five charges including:
- Attempt murder contrary to section 239 (1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Point firearm contrary to section 87 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Discharge firearm with intent contrary to section 244 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Ireland was held in custody for a bail hearing today, Oct. 5, in the Ontario Court of Justice, Muskoka.
The suspect and victim identity will be withheld in effort to protect the victim’s identity, who was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
