GUN CALL LEADS TO DRUG CHARGE MONDAY AFTERNOON IN ALLENSVILLE NEAR LANCELOT LAKE

HUNTSVILLE — Two people in dispute here yesterday has led to one of them being charged with drug possession, after police say they received a call about a gun shot and  one person landing in hospital with minor injuries

During the mid afternoon and into the evening a heavy police presence was in the South Lancelot Road area, which is south of south of downtown Huntsville and off Hwy. 11 at Allensville near Lancelot Lake.

They say that on Sept. 19 at about 2:20 p.m. officers responded to reports of the dispute.

OPP resources were local detachment officers, Huntsville Detachment Crime Unit, Central Region OPP Canine, Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation (Helicopter) and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit were on hand.

As a result one person suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital and was subsequently released from hospital.

Huntsville OPP do not believe that there is an ongoing risk to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing and police were still on the scene late this morning.

They say a 42-year-old person has been charged with Possession of a schedule one substance contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The person is being held in custody and was scheduled to appear today, Sept. 20, for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Muskoka.

The identity of the suspect and victim are being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.

Police say more information is forth coming and will be released when available.
