OFF-DUTY COP CALLS FOR BACK-UP AFTER DRIVER SUSPECTED OF BEING IMPAIRED LAST NIGHT

GRAVENHURST — An observant cop who spotted a suspected impaired driver has led to charges against a Gravenhurst woman last night.

Police say this morning that on Monday July 18, at 7:15 p.m., the officer who was not working at the time, was travelling on Housey’s Rapids Road in Gravenhurst and became concerned about the driving behaviour of another motorist.

The officer talked to the driver when she stopped her car, and suspecting she may be impaired by alcohol called for a patrol officer to attend.

OPP officers attended and continued the investigation, subsequently arresting and charging 42-year-old Shannon Hill with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded.

Hill is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Sept. 6, 2022.

A Gravenhurst woman was charged early last night with being impaired behind the wheel on Housey’s Rapids Road.
