LAKE ROSSEAU SWIMMER DIES EARLY THIS MORNING AFTER BEING STRUCK BY BOAT

ROSSEAU — An early morning boating accident has left a 48-year-old swimmer dead after he was struck.

Police say today, Monday July 25, at 6:45 a.m. OPP and Muskoka EMS, along with Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, responded to a 911 call on Lake Rosseau near Shamrock Lodge west of Port Carling.

Several callers report the male swimmer unresponsive in the water approximately 70 feet from a dock off Shamrock Road.

Police say life-saving efforts were made, however the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police are conducting an investigation and are asking people to stay clear from the area in order that they may do so, more information will be released as it becomes available.

The swimmer was on Lake Rosseau, west of Port Carling, at 6:45 a.m. and towing a marker device so he could be seen.
