UPDATE: ADVISORY LIFTED JULY 12 … GRAVENHURST SWIM ADVISORIES ON AND OFF AT 2 TOWN BEACHES THURSDAY

UPDATE: ADVISORY LIFTED JULY 12

GRAVENHURST — Summer’s start continues with the annual on and off swim advisories at local beaches.

The Town of Gravenhurst reports Thursday that based on beach water samples collected on July 6, 2022, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is recommending that Gull Lake Park Beach (Third St, Gravenhurst) be posted with swim advisory signs.

“The geometric mean of samples collected from the beach was 610 E. coli per 100 mL which exceeds the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 mL.”

As well the swim advisory issued for Muskoka Beach Park (1141 Muskoka Beach Rd.) June 29 has been lifted effective immediately.

The advisory means the water is safe as long as you don’t drink it or get it in your eyes or in cuts or open soars.

The town, in partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, will continue to monitor all municipal beaches and water quality, and advise the public should there be any concerns.
