FIRST SWIM ADVISORY OF SEASON AT MUSKOKA BAY BEACH IN WEST GRAVENHURST
GRAVENHURST — The heat is on — swimmers.
A few days of hot weather has the first swim advisory of the season issued.
Based on beach water samples collected by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) June 22, they’ve recommended that Muskoka Bay Beach be posted with swim advisory signs.
The beach is in West Gravenhurst behind the tennis and pickle ball courts.
During a swim advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs identifying that the most recent water samples showed bacteria in numbers.
They says the numbers may increase users’ risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections, or stomach illness.
If you choose to swim during a swim advisory, avoid submerging your head or swallowing the water.
Visit the Town’s website for additional swimming options in Gravenhurst.
For additional information on beach water testing, please visit the SMDHU website at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/SafeWater/BeachWater/BeachPostings. The Town will continue to communicate updates as they become available.

I always get confused by calling it Muskoka Bay Park – always thought of it as West Gravenhurst Park, so as not to confuse it with Muskoka Beach Park Beach.
