CAUSE OF FIRE THAT DESTROYED BRACEBRIDGE COTTAGE SATURDAY CONSIDERED ‘SUSPICIOUS,’ SAY OPP

BRACEBRIDGE — An early morning fire that destroyed a cottage here Saturday has police looking for help after saying the cause of the blaze is being investigated as “suspicious,” says an OPP report today.

OPP and the Bracebridge Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Hamilton Point Road in Bracebridge, at 7:45 a.m., June 25.

The cottage is located west of Bracebridge, off Hwy. 118.

The structure was completely engulfed and “fortunately” no one was injured, the release said Friday six days after the fire that had firefighters contending with a back road blaze that made it difficult to get sufficient pumpers on scene.

Police are seeking assistance from members of the public who may have surveillance cameras on their property or any other information about this fire.
