SUV DRIVER AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER HITTING TRANSPORT WHILE DRIVING IN WRONG LANE
HUNTSVILLE — A northbound SUV driver in the southbound lanes of Hwy. 11 is in hospital in Toronto after colliding with a transport last night.
Provincial police say they are investigating the serious accident Feb. 28 at 7:20 p.m.
Officers from the Huntsville OPP detachment responded to reports of a vehicle headed north in the southbound lanes.
They say that while attempting to locate and intercept the car, officers found a head-on collision in the southbound lanes of the highway near Old North Road.
The collision involved a transport truck and SUV.
The 64-year-old male driver of the SUV was transported by Muskoka Paramedic Services to a local hospital and then by Ornge air ambulance to a Toronto area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Police say their investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
