MISSING HUNTSVILLE MAN’S BODY RECOVERED NEAR HIGH FALLS HYDRO DAM IN BRACEBRIDGE YESTERDAY

BRACEBRIDGE — The body of a missing Huntsville man has been found here near the High Falls hydro dam.

Mark Nevins, 60, was reported missing Monday and the OPP had asked the public to assist in their search for him or his SUV.

Yesterday police were alerted by a member of the public who noticed a similar vehicle parked in the area of Power Point Road in the north end of Bracebridge near the intersection of Hwy. 11 and Hwy. 117. It is on the north branch of the Muskoka River.

Officers confirmed that it was the same vehicle Nevins was driving.

When they didn’t find anyone a search of the area around the hydro dam and Muskoka River north branch with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit.

The search continued throughout the day and shortly after 4 p.m. the OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) located Nevins in the water.

They OPP say a post mortem examination will be conducted as the investigation into the cause of death continues.

High Falls park is at the intersection of Hwy. 11 and Hwy. 117 heading east to Baysville and Lake of Bays.
