TWO TRANSPORTS AND CUBE VAN COLLIDE TODAY NEAR PORT SYDNEY, HWY. 11 CLOSED NB, SB
PORT SYDNEY — Hwy. 11 was closed here in both directions in to late this morning as police investigated a collision involving two transports and cube van.
Police said this morning that they are investigating what they call a “serious motor vehicle collision.”
They say that at 1:115 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, officers from the Huntsville OPP detachment responded to a collision in the south bound lanes of the highway near Geer Road in Port Sydney, south of Huntsville.
The highway was still late this morning to allow OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) who are on scene and investigating.
The northbound lanes are also closed from South Mary Lake Road to Stephenson Road 8 and the south bound lanes are closed from Stephenson Road 8 to Highway 141.
Traffic was rerouted along Greer Road.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing and further information will be released when it becomes available.
Police ask that anyone with dashboard camera footage or other information related to this incident is asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or the Huntsville Detachment at 705-789-5551.
Hwy. 11 has been busy with accidents this week, including another one Saturday morning between Gravenhurst and Bracebridge in which a tractor and its trailer ended up in the centre median ditch near the Skyways Motel and gas bar after a heavy snow Friday night.
