SLEDGE HAMMER USED IN ONE OF TWO B&Es TODAY IN PORT CARLING, WAHTA

MUSKOKA — An overnight smash and grab at a Port Carling grocery store was followed two hours later in Wahta where police claim the same suspect broke into a First Nations convenience store.

The OPP are investigating the thefts Friday and ask the public’s help identifying the male suspect and his vehicle.

They say that on Feb. 18, at 3:20 a.m. the man used a sledge hammer to break the glass door at Foodland in Port Carling. He entered the store and stole an estimated $15,000 in tobacco products.

Two hours later they say the identical suspect was captured entering the Wolf Energy Gas station in the territory of Wahta First Nation by smashing the glass.

He is described as wearing a black Adidas baseball hat, camouflage Carhartt-hooded sweatshirt and black and grey bibbed coverall/snow pants.

His vehicle is a newer model Black Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
