MUSKOKA LAKES DRIVER CHARGED WITH HIT-RUN, IMPAIRED LAST NIGHT

GRAVENHURST — A hit-and-run call led police to charge a Muskoka Lakes man with impaired driving last night.

They say that at 9:10 p.m., Dec. 7, the OPP received a call that a motor vehicle had failed to remain after colliding with a vehicle on Muskoka Road 169, in Gravenhurst.

Thirty minutes later a second caller reported a vehicle stopped in an intersection on Muskoka Road 169.

When officer arrived “the male driver was behind the wheel finishing his chicken wings, and he was unaware of the collision.”

As a result, police arrested and charged 67-year-old William Newlove with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1) (a), Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) and Fail to report accident.

Newlove is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Bracebridge, January 4, 2022.

Police found a driver parked at the intersection on Hwy. 169 near the Boston Pizza on Bay Street last night and charged him with impaired driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
