63 REGIONAL COVID CASES TODAY INCLUDE 3 FROM MUSKOKA

SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — Three Muskoka cases ranging in age from under 17 to 80+ are among a growing number of 63 residents with positive coronavirus tests today.

No wonder Ontario is putting a halt to lifting of capacity limits in higher-risk settings like night clubs and wedding receptions, strip clubs, sex clubs and bathhouses.

Muskoka cases reported Wednesday include:

Georgian Bay woman, 45-64, who is under investigation after a first incident Nov. 8

Huntsville boy, under 18, who had close contact following a first incident Nov. 3

Huntsville man, 80+, who had close contact, with a first incident Nov. 9

Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit says 42 of today’s cases were unvaccinated, 20 were fully vaccinated and 1 was partially vaccinated.

One person was admitted to hospital, where 20 are receiving treatment.

There are also 349 active cases.

Marianne Cameron, of Gravenhurst, continues to take precautions as COVID numbers are back on the rise.

HEALTH UNIT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 14,400 cases to date
  • 111 this week
  • 248 last week, which is nearly double the 127 cases reported for the week of October 24th
  • From December 22nd, 2020 onwards, there have been 513 confirmed COVID-19 cases among vaccinated individuals.
  • From Sept. 12 to Nov. 6 the rate of COVID-19 infection among the unvaccinated vaccine-eligible Simcoe Muskoka population is 8 times higher than it is for fully vaccinated population and the rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations is 9 times higher.
  • 4,008 Alpha variants of concern, 169 Gamma, 34 Beta, 1,849 Delta
  • 916,079 vaccines have been administered
  • 463,153 residents have received at least one dose of vaccine, which represents 77% of the total population
  • 87% of the population 12 years and older living in Simcoe Muskoka have had at least one dose of vaccine including
  • 87% of youth 12 to 17 years of age who have received at least one dose of vaccine
