FOUR IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES OVER THE WEEKEND AROUND HUNTSVILLE
HUNTSVILLE — Police here were busy this weekend with three collisions and four impaired driving investigations.
Last evening, Sunday Aug. 23, at 6:44 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Balsam Chutes Road in Port Sydney.
Police say a witness reported the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.
Officers located the vehicle and with the assistance of witnesses found the driver.
After an investigation, Melanie Ursell, 54, of Port Sydney, was charged with: Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus); and Fail to remain.
Ursell was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice and is set to appear on Oct. 6, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville.
Earlier, in the afternoon, at 3:18 p.m., the OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle driving at high rate of speeds, passing on the right shoulder on Hwy. 11 northbound.
Officers located the vehicle and Sheldon Dobney, 25, of Stouffville, was charged with:
- Driving while under suspension
- Dangerous operation
- Speeding 47km/h over posted limit
- Driver fail to surrender license
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Dobney was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice to appear Sept. 15, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville.
On Saturday, Aug. 21, at 4:31 p.m., police were on the scene of a single motorcycle collision on Hwy. 35 when they say a vehicle proceeded to drive through barriers officers had set up.
Police gave chase and stopped the vehicle.
An impaired driving investigation was initiated and the driver was subsequently arrested. Anthony Allard, 33, of Napanee, was charged with: Operation while impaired – alcohol; and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Allard was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice to appear Oct. 13, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville.
Later that night, on Aug. 21, 2021, at 7:44 p.m., police responded to a report of an individual asleep at the wheel in front of a stop sign at South Portage Road at Hwy. 60.
An impaired driving investigation was initiated and the driver was subsequently arrested.
And Richard Marsolais, 63, of Russell Township, has been charged with: Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Marsolais was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice to appear Oct. 6, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville.
