‘ERRATIC’ DRIVER CHARGED WITH AN OPEN CONTAINER OF LIQUOR
GRAVENHURST — A local woman driving with an open container of liquor who refused to cooperate with police has been charged with impaired driving after a complaint from another driver last night.
Provincial police say that at 9:35 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a motor vehicle that was “erratically driving” on Doe Lake Road in Gravenhurst, and almost hitting another vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle shortly after and say the female driver refused to cooperate with police.
Subsequently the OPP charged 42-year-old Kara Penning, of Gravenhurst, with Failure/Refusal to comply with demand CC 320.15(1) and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.
Penning is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Oct. 12, 2021.
Earlier last night, at 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a motor vehicle that was said to be unable to maintain their lane on Muskoka Road 117 in Bracebridge.
After an investigation, 42-year-old Abbey McIntyre, of Barrie, was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) and having open liquor readily available.
She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Oct. 12, 2021.
Drivers charged with Impaired Driving or Refusal face an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicle will be towed and impounded for a minimum of seven days.
