UPDATE: BRACEBRIDGE DROWNING SATURDAY NIGHT WOULD BE FOURTH THIS WEEK

BRACEBRIDGE — Police divers are searching for a swimmer who may have drowned here on the Muskoka River tonight.

Emergency services were called Saturday, July 3, shortly after 7 p.m.

The OPP and Bracebridge Fire responded to a swimmer in distress on the south branch of the river off Golden Beach Road.

Police say the 18-year-old male did not resurface and search efforts were still underway at last report after 9 p.m.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) was called in to assist in the search.

But due to visibility and safety concerns the search has been suspended and will resume in the morning, police reported at 11:30 p.m.

This would be the fourth drowning this week in Muskoka.

Sunday two men aged 20 and 23 died at the Port Sydney Rapids.

Yesterday a Caledon man, 61, drown on Arnolds Bay, west of MacTier.

Police divers are searching for an 18-year-old swimmer  who may have drowned early Saturday night on the South Branch of the Muskoka River off Golden Beach Road.
