PRIDE FLAG BURNING CONDEMNED BY HUNTSVILLE MAYOR TERZIANO
HUNTSVILLE — Police are investigating this week’s burning of a Pride flag here as a “hate” crime.
The video of teens pulling down the flag at Huntsville Public School was shared on social media was widely condemned residents, including Mayor Karin Terziano said there is absolutely no place in Huntsville for acts of violence and remains in solidarity” with the LGBTQ2+ community.”
She said in a release Friday: “We are deeply upset to hear about this alleged act of violence toward the LGBTQ2+ community and we are devastated to see such activities occur within our community.
“These types of actions are very disturbing and they will not be accepted in any way.”
She added Huntsville council will continue to stand firm against this type of behaviour to ensure our community continues to be inclusive, safe and welcoming for all.
