MAN ASLEEP AT WHEEL OF DRIVE-THRU AMONG 4 IMPAIRED CHARGES

MUSKOKA — Police were busy with six drug- and alcohol-driving charges over the weekend.

Yesterday afternoon, May 16 at 1:30 p.m., police got a tip from a member of the public about the driver of a vehicle at a fast food restaurant on Muskoka Road 118 in Bracebridge.

The driver and passenger were reportedly intermittently sleeping while waiting in line.

Police found the vehicle before it departed the drive-thru and after an investigation arrested the driver, 57-year-old Wayne McMullen, of Bracebridge.

He was charged with Impaired Operation by Drug CC 320.14(1)(a), Possession of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1) and Possession of Schedule I Substance – Opioid CDSA 4(1).

His passenger, 35-year-old Kyle Gillard, also of Bracebridge, was charged with Possession of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1) and Possession of Schedule I Substance – Opioid CDSA 4(1).

McMullen and Gillard are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 29, 2021.

And last night at 6:30 p.m. police responded to an injured person in single vehicle ATV collision on Manitoba Street, in Bracebridge.

The operator was transported to hospital where she received treatment for minor injuries.

After an investigation they arrested and charged 56-year-old Susan Brown, of Bracebridge, with operation of a vehicle Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Brown is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 6, 2021.

On Friday night at 8:30 p.m. a 911 had officers responding to a report of a vehicle that had run off the road on Doe Lake Road in Gravenhurst.

Police found 21-year-old Matthew Veitch, of Bracebridge, and charged him with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Veitch is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 22, 2021.

And Saturday night in Huntsville, following a traffic stop, police arrested and charged a woman with impaired drug driving and her passenger with related drug charges.

The OPP say that on May 15, at 8:25 p.m., an officer observed a car being driven with a broken windshield on West Road in Huntsville.

After stopping the vehicle police say the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. A subsequent investigation resulted in police finding 0.05 grams of Fentanyl, a controlled substance, which was seized.

Denika Blondin, 28, of South River, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  • And operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, contrary to section 320.14(1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Kyle Stockdale, 32, also of South River, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled  Drugs and Substance Act

Blondin and Stockdale were released from custody to appear July 7, 2021, in the Ontario Court of Justice Huntsville.

Six Muskoka residents were arrested and charged on the weekend drug and alcohol offences.
